bless my birth

Better to sit at the waters' birth, than a sea of waves to win; To live in the love that floweth forth, Than the love that cometh in. Be thy heart a well of love, my child, Flowing, and free, and sure; For a cistern of love, though undefiled, keeps not the spirit pure.

welcome

Welcome to bless my birth.

After the birth of my first child in 2001, my heart rejoiced, “This is the best thing that has ever happened to me!” Unexpectedly, I had enjoyed my birthing experience immensely. I labored for a total of 24 hours, including over six hours of back labor, and two and a half hours of pushing. It was hard, but so wonderful working through it with my husband. I couldn’t believe how awesome I felt afterward. AND I had a sweet, perfect, pure little guy to give my everthing to. Life had never been better.

I created this website to offer other women encouragement, inspirational stories and information that will serve to impart a positive, even inspired attitude toward childbirth. I believe that the attitude we approach our births with can help us to experience them to the fullest, including God’s abundant blessings on them, no matter what happens in the course of them. I believe that God wants to transform us through our birthing experiences, and that He wants us to invite His blessings upon the arrival of our babies.

I am amazed at how our journey into motherhood is so automatic. I don’t think we have to work at becoming transformed in our births, I don’t think that praying for God’s blessings on our births is required in order to receive them in it’s midst. I DO believe that opening our hearts and minds to God and His design for birth and inviting His blessings to our births can help us to be more aware of, and thus enjoy completely, the gifts He gives in those terrific moments that we work so hard for our babies .

I hope that you’ll come back and visit here often. Each time you log on, let it become a prayer, “bless my birth, Lord.” It is my prayer that the Lord inspires you in your pregnancy, birthing and mothering, no matter where you are (even if you’re not yet pregnant, the journey to becoming a mother begins long before conception!) through what you find on this site.
