bless my birth

Better to sit at the waters' birth, than a sea of waves to win; To live in the love that floweth forth, Than the love that cometh in. Be thy heart a well of love, my child, Flowing, and free, and sure; For a cistern of love, though undefiled, keeps not the spirit pure.

We shared our craft!

August 21st, 2009 by Jennifer

Yesterday we had the fun experience of sharing the Freezer-paper Stencil craft with our friends Elijah, Luke and Salina. Elijah chose the number one for his t-shirt, and we had an interesting discussion during its creation about what numbers on sports jerseys represent. I suggested Elijah claim the number one on his shirt is there because he’s 1st place in everything. Luke chose the Super Mario Brothers villain, Count Bleck, for his design. And I enjoyed learning a little bit about Count Bleck and how he got to be bad as we created that one. I thought Salina’s and my bird design idea would go great on a bag, so I used some fabric I inherited from my maternal grandmother, Mary White, and sewed Amanda Soule’s Broadturn Bag, another one of the awesome projects in Handmade Home, to apply the bird stencil to. Here are some photos Salina shared with me of the projects we made together yesterday. Thank you so much Salina, for your friendship, for a fun day and for taking and sending me these photos. I love them!

They sure are handsome, if I do say so myself. Thanks so much for all of your help completing the craft. It is such a blessing to have a creative and artistic friend who is a patient and sharp teacher (especially when the artistically challenged Mama Salina makes mistakes). The boys are really excited about the shirts and now that we have the experience, they have more designs ideas to try at home. We may have a new wardrobe soon!! I am also so excited about my bird bag, and I am so touched by the thought and effort you put into it.
